There are around 60 students from Reception to Standard 6. In the early years there are composite classes for up to 15 students with one teacher (plus classroom assistants). Standards 5 and 6 have their own teachers and are single classes rising from around 15 students to a maximum of 22 in Standard 6. Whilst most subjects are taught by one class teacher, some specialists come in to teach Music, P.E. and Domestic Science.
Students study towards the English National Curriculum but with plenty of input to reflect the history, geography and culture of the Nilgiris (and India) as well as some topics picking up on the international mix of students and staff. Some testing takes place each year using material from the U.K. (NFER tests and SATs, the Standard Attainment Tests).
